Football Recap: Denver Edge Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

During a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.

Defensive Display Seals Contest

Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following giving up a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.

Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes remaining.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Attack

In spite of their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a chance to drive for a possible victory. But Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion rather than calling on specialist Nick Folk for a long kick.

Fields had difficulties throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach commented after the game.
