Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, as confirmed by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

Father and son were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Dedication

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America before the UN meeting.

Palace insiders have characterized William's involvement at the next COP as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were welcomed attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This involvement involved presentations together with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Link

The climate conference will dovetail with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the previous day he participates in the COP summit on November 6th.

Last week the William described the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The monarch has been a influential participant at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers confronting humanity over global warming, climate change and species extinction," the sovereign addressed participants.
